A trip into a wonderland fantasy garden: Madame Ganna Walska's Lotusland

Madame Ganna Walska created Lotusland in Montecito, CA over a period of several decades, creating not only an unusual set of theme gardens, but also assembling an amazing collection of rare and exotic plants. Lotusland is now a nonprofit organization that helps to preserve and promote these unique gardens. Docent led tours are by advance reservation only.

Tours are on a limited basis and very popular, it is recommended that you book well ahead of your visit.
Please call 805-969-3767 Monday through Friday from 9am to noon.
Or visit www.LotusLand.org.
Special thanks to the staff of Lotusland for accommodating our visit!

A native garden in the sky: Living Roof Ecosystems

Paul Kephart of Rana Creek Habitat Restoration creates living ecosystems that are self sustaining and self replicating. He works with native plants to build site-sensitive roof landscapes that promote birds and butterflies and mimic the natural landscape lost by urban development. Each living roof system reduces storm rain run off into our rivers and oceans, urban heat islands, and the need for costly heating and cooling. Living roofs help beautify our urban areas and hide development in sensitive scenic areas such as Big Sur.
