Exotic and Adaptable Palms for Every Garden
Palms will lend a touch of the tropics to any garden from towering
Chilean Wine Palms lining a drive to a Pygmy Date Palm in a container on your patio or in
your home. Gary Gragg along with Tom Fowler and the dedicated staff of Golden Gate Palms
and Exotics travel the world looking for new palms to bring to their nursery in Point Richmond, CA.
With the largest collection of palms in Northern California, Gary strives to test the hardiness
and adaptability of palms to colder climates. Some palms, including the native Sabal or Palmetto
are hardy to 10F or less.
Palms seen today include: Sabal minor, Sabal louisianna, Chaemedorea
tepijelote, Brahea armata, Chamaerops humilis var. cerifera, Rhopalostylis nikau, Rhopalostylis
baurii VAR cheesemanii, Trachycarpus wagneriensis, Phoenix roebellenii and Jubea chiloensis.
