Outdoor Living, Roman Style at the Getty Villa
The J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Villa creates a classical environment through which visitors experience an introduction to the ancient world of Greek, Roman and Etruscan art. The massive Villa, carefully detailed with frescos, marble and reproduction statuary, creates an inspiring model of a first century Roman country house complete with Outer Peristyle, Inner Peristyle, East, and Herb Gardens all planted with historically accurate plants used by Romans for practical, symbolic and ornamental purposes. Admission to the Getty Villa is always free, but advance timed tickets are required. The ticketing process allows for a smooth, evenly paced flow of visitors through the intimate setting of the Villa. For more information and to obtain tickets please call 310-440-7300 or go online to www.Getty.edu.
Special thanks to the staff of the J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Villa and the J. Paul Getty Trust for their help in bringing this special segment for you to enjoy!
Biting into a passion for Carnivorous Plants
Peter D'Amato is one of the foremost experts and producers of carnivorous plants. Many of the plants seen today including Cobra Pitchers, Sun Pitchers, American Pitchers, Sundews and Venus Fly Traps are hardy enough to be grown outdoors in many parts of the country. Peter's nursery, California Carnivores, offers plants for sale plus sage advice about growing these beautiful and unusual plants. Peter is author of the authoritative guide to growing carnivorous plants:
