Spring Gems for Shady Spots: A woodland garden with Dr. Allan Armitage.
Athens, Georgia in spring means azaleas, dogwoods and spring perennials in the private garden of world-class plant guru, Dr. Allan Armitage. Armitage is a leading expert on perennial plants and evaluates thousands of new introductions at the University of Georgia Athens. We were lucky enough to follow him around the garden and hear the stories behind each plant he grows.
To learn more about woodland and sun loving perennials, check out some of Armitage's books available from Timber Press, www.timberpress.com.

A Dramatic Water Garden makeover
Dave was thrilled to have Ed Beaulieu of Aquascape, Inc. and Christopher Bell of Alliance Land and WaterScapes remake his humdrum garden pond. The result is a spectacular water feature complete with running stream and gushing cascades. The new water feature incorporates nighttime lighting, fish habitat, ecological filters and a custom palette of stone and gravel to create an easy care, natural looking water garden that will give years of beauty and enjoyment.
Dave linked the water to the garden with a carefully chosen palette of easy care plants such as Flower Carpet Roses and creeping Mahonia.

NAWGS is an organization dedicated to the enjoyment, education, promotion, and protection of the water garden hobby. We are all about getting the word out on how wonderful this hobby is, and 110% dedicated to supporting all pond hobbyists, no matter what type of water feature they have.
