A new way to landscape: the micro-vineyard.
Eddy Szyjewicz and Nancy Rosner help homeowners plan, plant and harvest grapes for their own micro-vineyards with the service, Devine Consultants. Each vineyard can be as small as ten or twenty vines or cover several acres. They have created vineyards in average backyards, to replace water hungry front lawns, to help stabilize steep slopes and to decorate shopping malls.
Eddy and Nancy guide the clients through the whole process from selecting grapes perfectly suited to their region to bringing a "winery in a van" to the each location to help harvest, de-stem and juice the grapes. Each bottle of wine produced is a unique statement of the individual vineyard and it's owner.
Eddy also gives lectures and home vintner classes each year all over the country.

The life and style of a country estate: Filoli.
Filoli was created early in the 20th Century, in the hills above San Francisco by wealthy mining magnate, William Bourn II. Inspired by the Irish country estate of his daughter, Bourn, then later owner Lurline Roth created a vast formal garden ornamented with long vistas, flower beds, water features and specimen trees. In reaction to the devastation of the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake just a decade before, the estate was designed to embody the concept of a "New Eden"; where a bounty of resources and land allowed wealthy patrons to create lavish estates with an emphasis on self sufficiency.
Lurline Roth gave the estate to the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 1975 and additional lands to the Filoli Center.
The gardens and impressive house are preserved as the Filoli Center, a non-profit educational organization run in collaboration of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Filoli is open February to October, Tuesday through Sunday.
The grounds include a Garden Shop and Cafe.
